The company, known today as Toplis & Harding are direct descendants in East Africa of the business established over 200 years ago in London by Mr. James Toplis in 1790.

With over 50 years of insurance experience tailored to Sub Saharan Africa & the Indian Ocean islands, Toplis and Harding is a reliable partner of global insurance markets for claims and surveys in East Africa. As members of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (UK), we remain committed to the highest professional and ethical standards with integrity, equity and efficiency.

Expertise

Our highly trained, professional personnel include Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (FCILA), chartered insurance practitioners (F/ACII), chartered arbitrators, chartered and forensic accountants, engineers, agronomists, marine and aviation surveyors, investigators, operations and administrative managers.

All of our personnel are fluent in English and some speak additional European languages as well as Kiswahili and tribal languages.

Toplis and Harding is the sole appointed Lloyd’s Agent in Six African territories: Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Mozambique, & Malawi.

Apart from these countries, we cover all of Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands from a strategically located Head Office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania with a professionally managed network of sub agents and subsidiaries.

We are the Lloyd's agents in Tanzania, including ports of Zanzibar and Pemba Island. We have been recently appointed as the Lloyd’s Agent in Kigali, Rwanda.
